Everyday English for life in Australia

Your first weeks in Australia bring the same conversations for everyone. Practise them before you arrive: listen, learn the key phrases, then say your side out loud.

Updated 2026-10-17

How to practise

  1. Listen to the whole conversation once, reading along.
  2. Learn the key phrases in the table under each conversation.
  3. Role-play: press 🎭 and say your lines out loud when it's your turn. Repeat until you can do it without looking.

The audio uses your device's built-in voice (an Australian voice if your device has one), so it may sound a little robotic. Real conversations are faster and more relaxed, so listen to local radio and podcasts too.

Unofficial practice. We wrote these questions to match the official PTE Academic task types and timings. They are not real exam questions, and points shown are practice feedback, not a PTE score. For an official estimate, use Pearson's scored practice tests.
