Everything on englishcoaching.co is made by Team EnglishCoach, a small, independent team. This page explains the rules we follow, so you can decide how much to trust what you read here.
Our standards
- Original material only. Every practice question, conversation and story is written for this site and matches a real task type. We never copy questions from test providers, and we never sell or share "leaked" or "predicted" questions.
- Facts come from the official source. Test formats, score scales, results times and requirements are checked against the official source: Pearson for PTE, the IELTS partners, OET, ETS, Paragon (CELPIP), Cambridge English, Duolingo. We link to those sources so you can check them too.
- We show when we checked. Pages with facts that can change show a "Checked" note with the source and the date. When we update a page, we re-check every fact on it, not just the part we changed.
- Plain English. We write for learners. We use short sentences and common words, and we explain any word that might be new.
- No promises. No one can guarantee a test score, a visa or a job, so we never do. Our marking tools give estimates, and each one explains what it can and can't tell you.
- Clear about what we're not. We're not a test provider, a migration agent or a school. When a question needs professional advice, we say so and point to the right place.
How a page is made
- Plan. We choose a topic learners search for or ask us about, and decide the level (A1 to C1) and the skills it should practise.
- Draft. We write the lesson, conversation or questions. AI tools help us draft practice material, check grammar and spelling, and suggest more examples.
- Check. Our team edits the draft against the standards above: are the facts right and sourced, is the English natural and at the right level, does every answer have a clear explanation?
- Publish and listen. Pages go live with the date. We read the feedback that comes in and improve pages that people find confusing.
Mel, Josh and Kip
The hosts of the Listening Room, Mel and Josh, and our koala guide Kip are illustrated characters with AI voices. Their conversations are written by our team for learners. They're not real people, and we say so wherever they appear, including on YouTube.
Practice, marking and your data
Our practice tests and tools run in your browser. Speaking feedback is analysed on your device, and we don't keep what you type or record. We count anonymous totals (for example, that a test was finished) to see what's useful. See our privacy policy and how marking works.
Money and independence
The site is free. It may be supported by advertising, by affiliate links that are always marked, and by optional Ko-fi support. None of these changes our content: we recommend services only when they have strong independent reviews, and advertisers have no say in what we write. Read our affiliate disclosure.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, please tell us at hello@englishcoaching.co. We check every report, fix confirmed mistakes quickly, and update the page date. If a test provider or government changes a rule, we update the affected pages as soon as we can and show the new "Checked" date.
